About
My research project is in contemporary theatre audiences, in association with Actors Touring Company (ATC). It is a collaborative doctoral award, funded by the AHRC. Alongside this, I am a freelance writer and project manager: most recently for the Royal Opera House and their 'Open Up' programme.
Having coming from a background in the theatre industry (Royal Opera House, Tamasha, Shakespeare's Globe), and undertaking a collaborative thesis, my interest particularly lies in the way arts academia can inform the theatre industry and vice versa.
At the moment I'm looking at the way digital media is changing the way in which audiences interact with theatre, not just in the performance itself but in the liminal areas before an audience member arrives to see a performance, and long after the performance is ended.
During the academic year 2011/12 I will be a teaching associate for the first year BA Drama course 'Performance in History', and guest lecturer for the third year Drama course 'Managing Theatre'.
I am currently organising an international conference on Audiences Through Time (Keynote: Prof Tracy C. Davis) with colleague Anna Kretschmer, which will take place at Queen Mary on December 3rd 2011. Please see our microsite for more details, http://theaudiencethroughtime.wordpress.com
I also am part of the committee for QUORUM, research seminars on theatre, performance and practice hosted by the Drama Department at Queen Mary. For more information see http://queenmarydrama.wordpress.com
I'd be interested in getting in touch with anyone with similar interests, be it over coffee or email!
